The 3rd “Stories of China Retold in English” Challenge-NJFU LEVEL COMPETITION

“用英语讲中国故事”活动是中国教育电视台与新航道国际教育集团联合发起的一项面向海内外青少年的活动，旨在为广大青少年提供弘扬中华优秀文化、与世界交流的平台，充分展示青少年传承和弘扬中华文化的丰硕成果。

In order to promote cultural exchange and communication among global youth, as well as to showcase achievements of international Chinese language education, New Channel International Education Group, together with China Education Television, is holding the 3rd round of“Stories of China Retold in English” Challenge.

一、活动设置Rounds of the Challenge

来华留学生组活动包含初级阶段、中级阶段、高级阶段和中外青少年展演四个选拔阶段。

The selection of the Foreign Students Category includes four rounds: Preliminary Round, Intermediate Round, Advanced Round and Grand Final.

二、语言要求Language in Performance

活动要求选手必须使用非母语进行环节展示。

Participants are required to present in a language other than their native language, as follows:

三、作品要求Requirements

选手可从以下3种形式自选1种形式来准备作品:

The contestants can choose one of the following three topics to prepare their presentations:

1.朗诵 Recitation

选手从8篇推荐段落中自选1篇进行英文朗诵。

Contestants can choose stories from the 8 recommended articles to recite.

2.自我介绍 Self-introduction

选手从自身出发展开介绍。

The contestant will introduce himself/herself.

自我介绍的内容须含有中国元素，中国元素包含且不限于中国风物、习俗、人物、 成就、艺术或精神。

The content of the self-introduction must contain Chinese elements, including but not limited to Chinese customs, great figures (people), achievements, art or religion.

3.故事撰写和朗读Story writing & retelling

选手撰写短篇故事并朗读，须围绕中国元素展开创作内容，请注意不要以选手个人为故事主体。中国元素包含且不限于中国风物、习俗、人物、成就、艺术和精神。你的故事应该有一个清晰的叙事结构，包括“故事开头（介绍背景和主要人物）”“故事主体（叙述主要事件以及故事高潮）”和“故事结尾（鼓励创意生动的故事结局）”。

Contestants shall write a short story based on Chinese elements. Please be careful not to use the contestants themselves as the subject of the story. Chinese elements should include but not limited to Chinese cultural icons, customs, great figures (people), achievements, arts religion. Your story should have a clear narrative structure, including a “beginning” (introducing the setting and main characters), a “body” (describing the main events and the climax of the story), and an “ending” (creative endings are expressively encouraged).

四、奖项设置Awards

本次活动共设置四个奖项：一等奖、二等奖、三等奖和优秀奖；优秀选手可直通城市赛，一等奖可以直接晋级华东赛区。

Winners of this activity will be awarded with the: First, Second, Third and Excellent prize. The winners of the Excellent prize will proceed to the City level competition, and the First prize winners will automatically qualify for the East China Division level.

五、参与建议Suggestions

1. 关注微信公众号CN Stories，回复文字“来华留学生组”可下载推荐段落。

组”, and download the recommended materials.

2. 演讲时长：1.5分钟。

Speech duration: 1:30min.

3. 视频规格： mp4、flv、mkv、rmvb等，视频文件最大200Mb。

Video specification: mp4、flv、mkv、rmvb, maximum 200Mb.

4. 录制建议：视频录制需自行准备PPT、背景、服装道具等来辅助模拟现场。

Recording suggestions: please prepare your own PPT, background, clothing, etc., for enhanced video and scene quality.

5. 提交截止时间：2022年10月31日。

The deadline for submission: October 31^st, 2022.

6. 提交方式：请扫描以下二维码提交个人信息及视频材料。
