OVERVIEW OF NANJING FORESTRY UNIVERSITY

Nanjing Forestry University (NJFU) is located in Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province, and a historical and cultural city. The campus lies at the foot of the Purple Mountain and near the Xuanwu Lake. It is an ideal place for people to study and live. 

Nanjing Forestry University (NJFU) is a provincial key university co-administered by Jiangsu Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education of China. It has evolved from the Forest Departments of Central University (founded in 1902) and Jinling University (founded in 1910) to Nanjing Forestry College in 1952. In 1985, it has obtained the present name.

NJFU is a mutlidisciplinary university with an emphasis in forestry as well as the disciplines of natural resources, ecology and environment disciplines. In the fourth round of national subject assessment, the Forestry Engineering and Forestry programs were awarded an A+ and Landscape Architecture was awarded an A-. The fifth round of discipline evaluation also achieved good results, showing a new pattern of coordinated and high-quality development of disciplines. Additionally, 10 disciplines at NJFU, including Engineering, Plant & Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Environmental Ecology, Biology and Biochemistry, Geosciences, General Social Sciences and Computer Science are in the ESI top 1% of highly-cited papers, and the Chemistry, Engineering, Agricultural Science and Plant & Animal Science disciplines were in the ESI top 1‰ of highly-cited papers. From 2017 onwards, NJFU has been part of the "Double First-Class" University Initiative.

ACCOMMODATION

Nanjing Forestry University provides students dormitory for the international students. The Dorm located northwest of campus is a 3-unit building with totally 36 apartments and 144 single rooms. All the apartments in the Dorm are equipped with shared kitchen, shared bathroom, furniture, air conditioner, internet access and other electronic facilities. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Launched in 2010, APFNet Scholarship Program aims to support capable individuals - either forestry officials or researchers from the Asia-Pacific region in pursuing higher academic degrees in the field of sustainable forest management and rehabilitation, in cooperation with universities and institutions in China and the region. Advanced managerial knowledge, techniques and skills, as well as opportunities to the fields for practice and experience are provided, to improve the ability of those who will drive sustainable forest management and rehabilitation forward for the region.

APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY

 Non-Chinese citizens from developing APFNet member economies including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam

 Age:18 - 40, and in good health condition

 The applicant must be a bachelor’s degree holder of relating majors

 The applicant must have excellent academic performance, and meets the requirements of the applied major

 Language requirement: A score of 6.0 or above in IELTS (with no sub-score less than 6), or a score of 79 or above in TOEFLor provide proof of English-taught program during previous degree

 At least 2 years of work experience are prioritized

 Female applicants encouraged

 The applicant has not been granted scholarships from other Scholarship Committees for the 2026/2027 academic year

Notarized Certificate of   Highest Degree/Diploma Achieved

l  Prospective   diploma   recipients must submit official proof of student status issued by     their current school.

l  Documents in languages other   than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized   Chinese or   English translations.

Notarized Academic   Transcripts(from the undergraduate program onwards)

l  Copies of academic records   from first to last semester during the undergraduate, master (if any),   shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the   attending university's academic affairs office, graduate school, or   management department.

l  Transcripts   can be in   Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations   if they are in foreign languages other than English.

A Study Plan/Proposal

l  Prepare   a study plan   with a minimum of 1000 characters or words in English.

Two Recommendation Letters

l  Applicant shall submit two   recommendation letters in English from two professors or associate   professors.

l  These letters shall describe   the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and   evaluation of future growth, etc.

Copy of Valid Language   Certificate

l  Applicant shall submit a   clear scanned copy of the Language Certificate of IELTS, TOEFL, or other   English Proficiency Certificate.

Non-criminal Record Report

l  Applicant shall submit a   valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security   authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the   application.

Photocopy of the Foreigner   Physical Examination Form

l  Applicant must submit a   photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form designed by the Chinese   quarantine authority and completed in English (the original copy should be   kept by the applicant).

l  The physical examinations   must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

l  Incomplete records or   records without a sealed photograph of the applicants, the signature of the   attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital are invalid.

l  The results of the physical   examination are valid for only 6 months.

Copy of Passport Information   Page and Relevant Residence Documents

l  Applicant shall submit a   clear scanned copy of the information page of passport with a validity period   of more than 12 months.

Others

l  An approval letter from the   applicant’s employer/organization showing the applicant shall be agreed to   come to study at NJFU).

l  CV,   Publication,   Awarding Certificates, etc.

4Application Procedure and Admission

 Find a suitable degree program.

 Register and apply in NJFU online application system: https://njfu.17gz.org/

 Initial document review, Academic review by colleges;

 The Review Panel from Nanjing Forestry University will review the application package and decide the nominated candidates.

 The result will be released on our official website (https://ieceng.njfu.edu.cn/) before June 30thand also will be reported to the APFNet organization in Beijing.

 The admission package, including the Admission Notice, the Confirmation Form for Studying in China (JW202) will be mailed to the enrolled students before July 31st.

5Reminder

 Upload supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.

 During the application process, please pay close attention to the application system information and contact email. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by failure to reply or submit materials in time as required.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REVIEW

The NJFU is responsible for daily management through providing student guidance and conducting academic performance review. Poor academic performances and severe violation of the school’s management policies would result in disqualification or termination of the scholarship.

1Academic performance review of the scholarship students

An awarded student’s academic performance will be reviewed by NJFU at the beginning of the second academic year to determine whether they are qualified to conduct their dissertation for defense.

2Disqualification/termination of scholarship

 Late registration or absence without written notice in advance to NJFU.

 Unapproved change of majors, academic extension, suspension and re-entry.

 Drop-out (for any reason).

 Other severe violation of management policy by NJFU.

3Suspension

 Scholarship students who have to suspend their study for health reasons are required to submit a written application to NJFU and enclose relevant medical documents such as examination and diagnosis certificates issued by the hospital.

 Scholarship students who are obliged to suspend their studies for health reasons are required to return to their home economy for treatment as soon as possible and are required to cover the cost of resulting travel expenses. Those who wish to keep their scholarship status are required to apply to NJFU and APFNet. With approval of NJFU, this status may be reserved for up to one year and the scholarship and living allowances shall be suspended during the period of leave. Otherwise, the students shall continue their studies at their own expenses upon their return to campus.

 Those who suspend their study for non-health reasons shall lose their scholarship status.

4Drop-out

◼ Scholarship students who voluntarily plan to terminate their studies are required to apply for approval in written with a letter signed by NJFU and APFNet. The scholarship will be ceased upon the approval.

◼ Upon the approval/notice of the drop-out by NJFU, monthly stipends /allowances will be stopped and amount granted in advance must be returned. NJFU will decide if the travel expenses back home will be borne by the Scholarship Program.
