As the Dragon Boat Festival is approaching this year, in order to allow international students to deeply understand, recognize and love traditional Chinese festivals, enhance the connection and communication between Chinese and foreign students, and enrich the campus cultural life of college students, our college, the Logistics Management Office and the Logistics Service Corporation jointly held this event. The Chinese and foreign students living in our school, the leaders of the food service center, and the teachers of the International Education College attended the event.
At the beginning of the event, Miss Liu from the Food Service Center brought a lively and shocking introduction to the Dragon Boat Festival culture for Chinese and foreign students. Through a wealth of knowledge display and interesting short films, she introduced the relevant cultural elements of the Dragon Boat Festival, such as dragon boat racing, five poisons, drinking realgar wine, hanging mugwort, calamus, etc. In addition, she also told the story of Qu Yuan. Through his long poem "Tianwen", the "Tianwen No. 1" detector was introduced, a two-way linkage between ancient history and culture and the development of modern technology; at the same time, he introduced different types of zongzi and how to make them. Finally, she introduced the production method of the Dragon Boat Festival sachets.
Making zongzi has always been a favorite activity of students. Under the guidance of experienced food masters, Chinese and foreign students experienced the whole process of making zongzi by themselves through patient study and practice.
While waiting for the zongzi to be cooked, the Chinese and foreign students learned and experienced another traditional item of the Dragon Boat Festival—making sachets for the first time. We have prepared all kinds of national style colored cloth, pendant beaded colored rope, auxiliary needle and thread and other materials for the students. For the first time, the international students felt "at a loss" when they came into contact with the difficult needlework. However, the Chinese and foreign students helped each other and finally completed the work and experienced the joy of making sachets together.
At the end of the activity, the students tasted the zongzi made by themselves, full of a sense of achievement.
The successful holding of this activity not only enriched the students' extracurricular life, but also further carry forward and inherit the traditional culture of the Dragon Boat Festival. At the same time, it enhanced the friendship and cohesion of Chinese and foreign students, and won unanimous praise from Chinese and foreign students.
